When to use a Pokeball.

This is my guide on when to use a Pokeball. Sure, some of the time, it's just luck, but, I belive there is a certain craft to it.

When a status is inflicted.

I'll use one of my favorite games, Pokemon Colosseum. Snaging Tyranitar from Evice was really hard for me. I would use Suicune, I'd use Hydro Pump, and then, he'd be half dead; Being the brute that it is, Tyranitar would use a move that'd give it recoil damage. It'd faint, and I'd be one very, sad, boy. That's when I realized, that I should take the slow approach to snagging him. I used Entei. I would use a fire move, which I know isn't very effective against Tyranitar. It did decent damage, but it also gave it a burn. I let the burn keep damaging him, and I'd focus on the other Pokemon. When he was about to go into the red area, and his team members were gone, I simply threw an Ultra Ball at him, and I finally snagged my coveted Tyranitar.

Low HP

Most of the time with normal Pokemon. If you get their HP fairly low, it'd be a good time to through a Pokeball.

Lower Class Pokemon

Well, kinda of a rude name, please forgive me. Anyway, say I've beaten the game, and, I didn't catch Bidoof. I go back to Route ___ and I run into Bidoof. If any of my pwnsome strong Pokemon were even to use Tackle, Bidoof would be owned. So, I simply through my Ultra Ball into the air, and in normal circumstances, Bidoof would be caught.

Closing

There is a certain craft to catching Pokemon. Make wise choices, and think before you make a move, if you don't, that could cost you your last Ultra Ball against Giratina.
